Nuit's Assurance Of Eternal Bliss
"I give unimaginable joys on earth: certainty, not faith, while in life, upon
death; peace unutterable, rest, ecstasy; nor do I demand aught in sacrifice." Liber al vel Legis 1:58
Nuit begins to conclude her message to humanity with a song of love. Her proclamation in this little
verse is an amazing assurance that exceeds either the hope or faith promised by established world religious cults.
She promises eternal bliss, not only now, but forever.
"I give unimaginable joys on earth; certainty, not faith, while in life, upon death . . ." We cannot
conceive of the joys that are available to us once we achieve Eden, each star in perfect harmony, and following perfect will.
What is supreme about this concept is that each star is promised certainty of the ecstasy of existence,
not only during our life experience on this planet, but also "upon death." The verse makes a clear distinction between certainty
and faith.
Certainty is a state of knowing something is true and being free of doubt. It implies evidence that
the promise is true.
Faith, on the other hand, is based upon a trust and loyalty to an invisible god. The dictionary
says the word means a firm belief in something for which there is no proof.
The promises for those who do all things for the love of the Earth and all natural things (Nuit)
are peace unutterable, rest, and ecstasy. Shucking the fear-based religious system leads to an indescribable peace. Gone is
the fear of death because we understand it as merely a natural change in our existence. In fact, the death experience is pure
pleasure, I am told by people who had died and then been revived. One man said it was comparable to the human orgasm.
Living in harmony, following our perfect will, and doing all things unto Nuit gives us rest. That
does not mean that we can just lie around eating grapes and watching the world go buy. As stars moving in harmony with one
another, there is no strife. Living without conflict is natural. The daily tasks get done collectively. We sleep in natural
cycles, and not because of social demands.
I am writing these words in the first week of April. A government-imposed shift from regular time
into Daylight Savings Time is expected to go into effect in a few days. Every time it happens, people all across America go
through several days, if not weeks of physical adjustment because, if they hold jobs or have other social obligations, their
biological clocks are out of whack. I remember how the people in the state where I live resisted this annual shift in their
human time clocks. They even forced a referendum election and voted against it. But it was done anyway. The wealthy few that
wanted the extra daylight after work so they could waste more time on the golf course, bought the required government legislation.
This is not living in harmony. It is forcing the will of a few on everybody else for selfish reasons.
Some Thelemites that I know have thrown away their clocks and wrist watches. They sleep when the
body tells them it is time. They do all things with direction and will. The problems, for them, however, is the interference
created by the world around them. Ringing telephones can be controlled by switching off the ringer, or pulling the connection.
But other social noise, like police sirens, lawnmowers, chained and barking dogs and obnoxious neighbors who get drunk and
shout, destroy our peace.
The people of this world are not living in harmony. And because of this, we who seek it are robbed
of the peace and pure ecstasy promised by Nuit. This is not Eden. We are living in a socially created hell. This is why the
Beast is coming.
