Most Polled Americans
Say Impeach The Bum By James Donahue Dec. 28, 2005 There has been a joke
floating about on the web of late that goes: “Somebody give Bush a blowjob so we can impeach him.” It is funny because that
very act was enough to stir impeachment proceedings against former Democratic President Bill Clinton. Yet our sitting
Republican President, who has been proven guilty of misleading us to a miserable war in Iraq, who admittedly circumvented
the law when ordering government wire taps on American telephones, and many believe was involved in the Valerie Plame identity
leak, appears to be riding through his second term completely unscathed. The man's worst crimes,
left almost unaddressed by the national media, have been the dismantling of U.S. environmental laws and letting industry return
to business as usual. Bush is an earth criminal. Congress, which is predominately
Republican, seems to be unwilling to even talk about impeachment. But we have news. The people who elect those people to office ARE
thinking about it. It is interesting to
note that a recent Internet poll by MSNBC showed that 85 percent of the 162,823 people that responded said they favored impeaching
President George W. Bush. It was a simple and
voluntary poll, so perhaps it had a tendency to draw in people who feel strongly about the impeachment of Mr.
Bush. The question: Do you believe President
Bush’s actions justify impeachment? The possible answers: - Yes, between the secret
spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial. This drew 85 percent of the
voters. - No, like any president
he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Only five percent checked
this one. - No, the man has done
absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching. Eight percent liked this one. - I don’t know
(for the fence sitters). This got two percent. |
