Was She Partly Caught In Another World?

By James Donahue

Dr. Raul Rios Centeno, a medical doctor and paranormal investigator practicing in Lima, Peru, has told a story of a 30-year-old woman who came to him suffering total paralysis of one side of her body.

The woman said she was camping on the Markahuasi plateau, a strange mountain site about 35 miles from Lima, when she became trapped in what she believes was a “crevasse between realities” and left half of herself in another world.

She said she was exploring late at night with friends when they heard music coming from a small stone cabin. There was light from a burning torch coming from the building. She said she walked to an open doorway and saw people dancing to the music inside. They were wearing ancient Seventh Century clothes.

“I tried to enter the room but one of my girlfriends pulled me out,” the woman said. That was when she found half of her body paralyzed. It was the half of her that had entered the cabin.

Dr. Centeno said he conducted all kinds of medical tests but could not discover the cause of her paralysis. “An EEG was able to show that the left hemisphere of the brain did not show signs of normal functioning, as well as an abnormal amount of electrical waves,” he said.

He said a CAT scan and other tests suggested to him that the woman had partially stepped into an “anomalous zone” that produced “a change in the energy flow existing in her nervous system, or perhaps even a change in the type of energy.”

The woman had stepped her left foot through the doorway before she was pulled out again. Thus the right cerebral hemisphere of the brain, which controls everything on her left side, kept her heart, stomach and other critical body parts functioning, Centeno theorized.

“The unanswered question is, of course, what would have happened if her body had entered completely into the stone cabin? Would she have gone into another dimension?” Centeno asked.

The Markawasi Plateau, which towers 12,000 feet above sea level, is known for its ancient monumental stone sculptures of human faces, animals that are so worn that some believe they date back thousands of years. Many of the creatures depicted by the carvings are not native to Peru and South America. Some believe the site is a remnant of a great civilization that existed in South America many thousands of years in the past.

The place has attracted esoteric groups, shamans and people involved in the occult sciences. Visitors claim to have experienced altered states of consciousness plus telepathic and clairvoyant abilities.

It was a perfect place for a 30-year-old camper to come upon a cabin full of dancers from another dimension. Did she really step partly through a gateway to another dimension, or was it all in her head?
