Cursing Because
Now a curse upon Because and his kin! May Because be accursed for ever! If Will
stops and cries Why, invoking Because, then Will stops & does nought. If Power asks why, then is Power weakness. Also
reason is a lie; for there is a factor infinite & unknown; & all their words are skew-wise. Enough of Because! Be

The word "because" is a conjunction. It is a 14th Century Early English word derived from two words
. . . by cause. In a reflection of this verse, Mordecai Shapiro noted that the word generally refers to cause, but it also
denotes motivation and purpose.
"'Because' is about the reasons for things, both in the strictly rational sense and in the purely
volitional sense. Science and Magick are thus without doubt the kin of Because," Shapiro wrote.
I might challenge the addition of Magick to this list.
So why would such an innocuous word generate Hadit's curse? He explains: "If
Will stops and cries Why, invoking Because, then Will stops & does nought. If Power asks why, then is Power weakness."
This the question invokes the response: "because" which is an excuse for all things. It is representative
of the powers of repression and oppression. Adults order children to do certain things "because I say so." That is not an
answer to a question. It is a statement of power and suppression.
To ask why is our responsibility. But in our society the question is often considered rebellious.
It invokes the Dogs of Reason. And they are abhorring to anyone actively pursuing his/her will. "Also
reason is a lie; for there is a factor infinite & unknown; & all their words are skew-wise."
The infinite factor, known to the adept through magick, makes no sense to the scientist that uses
only logic and accepted theory to explain his universe. Because he does not have all of the facts, and looks at the world
through the tube of tunnel reality, his arguments following "because" are skewed.
The authority figures controlling our society use the power of "because" to suppress human freedom
of action and expression. They are the road-blocks to will. And this explains the severity of Hadit's curse.
"Enough of Because! Be he damned for a dog!" It is time to change the
subject. But even at that, Hadit strikes out one last time, damning reason "for a dog" and ending the sentence with an explanation
mark to emphasize the point.
