Following The Path
"Obey my prophet! Follow out the ordeals of my knowledge! Seek me only! Then the
joys of my love will redeem ye from all pain. This is so, I swear it by the vault of my body; by my sacred heart and tongue;
by all I can give, by all I desire of ye all." Liber al vel Legis 1:32
At this point in her message, Nuit makes three commandments for us to follow. The reward will be
the joys of her love that will redeem us from "all pain."
The commandments must be examined.
1.) "Obey my prophet!"
We have established that this could be one of two personalities; either that of Ankh-af-na-khonsu,
the dead Egyptian priest, or Aiwass (I Was), the priest as he appeared as a time traveler to Aleister Crowley in Cairo, Egypt,
to dictate the Book of the Law.
Crowley, who accepted the responsibility of devoting much of his remaining life to interpreting
this work and establishing the precepts and disciplines found therein, suggested that he was the chosen prophet. And this
may well have been true. He said that Aiwass seemed to be always with him throughout his life, helping him in his writings
and his interpretations of the various passages, and establishing Thesbian orders.
Crowley called himself the Beast, spoken of in Verse 15. Yet I sense that even Crowley understood
that another, more authoritative personality would appear at some future date to assume that role.
He wrote in The Law Is For All: "It is proper to obey the Beast, because his law is pure freedom,
and he will give no command which is other than a right interpretation of this freedom.
There is a new canon nearing that will give direction in this area. It will be a Luciferian spiritual
science that will rise up around the world, replacing the old religious order and putting direction to what has been folly
for thousands of years. In the meantime, those who seek knowledge should spend time in meditation and study.
2.) "Follow out the ordeals of my knowledge!"
At first glance this seems to be a difficult concept. How can Nuit's knowledge be an ordeal? We
generally associate this word with great tribulation and struggle. But the English language has changed over the last century.
The word ordeal also has less known and older meanings. Nuit may be challenging us to test or prove her "knowledge," or promises
before accepting them.
There is great wisdom, however, in considering the word "ordeal" in its more contemporary setting.
Because of the existence of powerful religious systems throughout the world, followers of either the old form of Gnosticism
or the new Order of Horus, have found persecution everywhere. Religious orders
are at war among themselves. Anyone claiming a philosophy as radical to Christianity, for example, as the one set forth in
this book, is in great danger of being labeled a cultist.
Crowley was personally driven into secret orders that I believe existed because of the social condemnations
brought on by the church. He was active in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the Masons, and Ordo Templi Orientis. All
three organizations establish "ordeals," or severe tests before initiates can advance to various levels of knowledge.
I believe these organizations may have been carrying Nuit's second commandment to the extreme, however.
She never intended the ordeals on her path to be extreme, although humanity, because it is led by fools, seems to have made
it this way.
Be forewarned however. To know Nuit is to invite difficulties into your life. There is a spiritual
war raging. Those who look for truth quickly find themselves in the midst of battle. The enemy usually comes at us by
possessing a human that puts obstacles in our path. Be constantly aware and on your guard. To follow Nuit is to be a
warrior.
3.) Seek me only!
Nuit said in Verse 21: "I am Heaven, and there is no other God than me, and
my lord Hadit." Combined, they are the creators. They are the energy, the life force, the intelligence behind all things.
That we exist means that Nuit resides in each of us. To seek her is to look within. We are not to bow down to an external
spirit force. We would be better off worshipping a stone, because that stone is as much a part of the life force in Nuit as
we are.
What then are the rewards of enduring the ordeals and seeking truth?
Nuit promises: "Then the joys of my love will redeem ye from all pain. This
is so, I swear it by the vault of my body; by my sacred heart and tongue; by all I can give, by all I desire of ye all."
Love is the reward. It not only radiates from the Creator, but through us to one another. It
is something that has been sorely missing on this sick planet for too long.
