A Life Without Fear

I am the Snake that giveth Knowledge & Delight and bright glory, and stir the hearts of men with drunkenness. To worship me take wine and strange drugs whereof I will tell my prophet, & be drunk thereof! They shall not harm ye at all. It is a lie, this folly against self. The exposure of innocence is a lie. Be strong, o man! lust, enjoy all things of sense and rapture: fear not that any God shall deny thee for this. I am alone: there is no God where I am. Liber al vel Legis 2:22-23

People live in fear. The existing false religious systems generate it. They fear the unknown. They fear darkness. They fear failure. They fear one another. They fear death. They fear eternal judgment because they committed "sins" as identified by their own self-created cult. They are programmed to fear from the day they are born.

Hadit proclaims that our life style is entirely wrong and self-destructive. In the verses above He instructs: "to worship me take wine and strange drugs . . . they shall not harm ye at all. It is a lie, this folly against self."

The verse follows up with a promise: "fear not that any God shall deny thee for this." Indeed, "The word of sin is restriction" (1:41).

Because of the great American War on Drugs, the great religious blaspheme against sexual freedoms, and the latest assault, the War On Terror, the call by Hadit in Verse 22 is declaration of revolution in many parts of the English speaking world. To do these things, and to live this life style even in the non-existent privacy of our homes is to place ourselves in danger of arrest, conviction and imprisonment for angelic created "illegal" and "immoral" acts.

He calls: "To worship me take wine and strange drugs whereof I will tell my prophet, & be drunk thereof!" The consumption of wine is limited to adults and because of the laws, it must never be done in public places. The consumption of "strange drugs" is a criminal offense punishable by a stiff fine, months if not years of restriction through the eyes of a probation officer designed to make sure we have "learned our lesson" and never do it again, and jail.

Yet Hadit promises that when done in celebration of the gods, as a worship of both Hadit and Nuit, the Mother Earth, such drugs "shall not harm ye at all. It is a lie, this folly against self."

Another interesting concept: "The exposure of innocence is a lie." Many of our laws make it a crime, with severe punishments attached, to expose children under the age of 18 years to alcohol, drugs, or sexual material." Thus families that choose to live in total freedom; to drink wines that foam and take their fill of love wherever and with whomever they wish, are committing "immoral acts" in the eyes of the church. And they are in danger of arrest and imprisonment if they do it in front of their children, or allow their teenage sons and daughters to participate in the rituals.

Thus Hadit continues: "Be strong, o man! lust, enjoy all things of sense and rapture." We are at war with the society in which we live and we must be both strong and cunning if we choose to enjoy such pleasures in this restrictive culture.

Knowing and understanding Hadit, the power and light within us, opens the door to freedom from restriction. "I am the Snake that giveth Knowledge & Delight and bright glory, and stir the hearts of men with drunkenness."

Hadit identifies himself with the Kundalini . . . an energy that exists within every human. The name means coiling, like a snake. In classic literature of hatha yoga, the kundalini is a coiled serpent at the base of the spine. This image of coiling, like a spring, conveys the image of untapped energy.

The yoga think of kundalini energy as a foundation of consciousness. With kundalini moves through the body, consciousness changes with it.

The image of the coiled serpent, prepared to strike, also has strong sexual connotations. It is the classic phallus. Hadit, the male image of the duality of the creator, is necessary for the fertilization of Hadit to bring about the creation of life.

Thus His promise that he "giveth Knowledge & Delight and bright glory, and stir the hearts of men with drunkenness" is a fulfillment of the release of the energy of the kundalini.

Crowley suggested that the word drunkenness, in this sense, does not mean the effect of alcohol consumption. We also can experience a great sense of drunkenness with life during moments of intense joy. We should be able to achieve this sensation constantly, without having to resort to artificial stimulants and drugs.

Yet if we take the stimulants and we enjoy the effect of strange drugs, it is not sin. "Fear not that any God shall deny thee for this. I am alone: there is no God where I am."

Hadit lives within each of his stars. He assures us that "I am alone. There is no God where I am." He is saying that He, alone, is the force that runs the universe. The false images created by the world religious cults are a lie.
