About Dubai Port Deal

C. Donahue said Sunday U. S. President George W. Bush was correct in pressing for the sale of U. S. Eastern port operations
to the Dubai-based DP World.
Bush warned Friday that
the collapse of the sale to DB World in the United Arab Emirates will hurt
American efforts to recruit Mideast governments as partners in the war on terror.
Donahue said the agreement
was scuttled because of the prejudices expressed by U.S.
legislators. He said he agreed with Mr. Bush that the operation of American ports by DB World would have posed no security
risk, and the politics that stopped the sale may have the opposite effect.
“President Bush
had it right on,” Donahue told his Voice of Lucifer Internet radio audience. “A good working relationship with
a Middle Eastern country that would have had a lot to lose in the event of a terrorist attack would have given us the extra
security we need along our Eastern coast.”
He asked his listeners
to put themselves in the shoes of the Saudi's who wanted to buy and run this business after what has happened.
“They know that
America turned them down because of its
prejudice,” he said. “How do you think they will react to a terrorist threat?”
Donahue said America has always had a weak security breach at its
ports and has been unable to do an effect job protecting its borders, mainly due to the large volume of business done through
its ports with the rest of the world.
“This deal was
our best chance of stopping terrorists from hitting us on our Eastern coast,” he said.
